NEW LEAD BALLAST

This year we clean the
ballast compartments in the bottom box keel of the ship,
take all rusty steel punching's out and pour over 10 tons of liquid lead in the keel. We use big gas torches and a heavy melting pot to melt the lead bars.
Keep the pot hot!!
This new solid lead ballast, with a much lower center of gravity than the original steel punching's,
brought the center of gravity of the entire vessel down without increase of the displacement of the total ship. And this resulted in more upright sailing, more speed and better upwind performance.
Thanks to the advise of mr Dick Boon and his famous ship design group "Vripack/Netherlands".
